About — Her Story
There is a kind of authority that comes only from having stayed.
Professor Omolola Irinoye joined the Department of Nursing Science at Obafemi Awolowo University in 1991. Across thirty-five years, of academic service, the scale of her influence has grown from a lecturer shaping a curriculum, to a professor shaping a discipline, and to a Vice-Chancellor shaping an institution.
Her doctoral work at the University of KwaZulu-Natal examined the cultural dimensions of sexual health among the Yoruba - an early expression of a conviction that has run through her scholarship: health cannot be understood, or improved, apart from the community that lives it.
In 2023, that career entered a new phase with her appointment as the first female Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University - not a departure from her life's work, but its continuation through institutional leadership.
